Narrow areas of work and interest: surgical treatment of tumors of abdominal organs by laparoscopic and open approach; Laparoscopic (minimally invasive) abdominal and endocrine surgery.

He is the author of over 180 professional publications

Contribution to the development of professional activity:

During his master’s studies, he introduced into routine practice the urease test for Campilobacter pylori (current name Helicobacter pylori) during gastroscopic examinations. Thanks to this, the detection of Campylobacter pylori was introduced into routine practice at KBC “Dr. Dragiša Mišović” among the first centers in our country.

After returning from professional training at the Clinic “Rechts der Isar” in Munich in 1997. at Prof. Dr. J.R. Siewert was introduced at the KBC Surgery Clinic by “Dr. Dragiša Miošović” to the routine practice of extensive oncological surgery for stomach and colon tumors. Numerous doctors are trained in these surgical procedures. After training in Milan in 2001. at “Ospedale Civile” Milano and “Ospedale Niguarda Ca Granda” Milano introduced radiofrequency ablation of liver tumors (RFA), which significantly improved the treatment of patients with primary or secondary liver tumors. After completing training at one of the most prestigious clinics for hepato-biliary surgery – Tokyo University; Clinic for hepato-bilio-pancreatic and transplantation surgery at the world’s leading hepato-biliary surgeon Prof. Dr. M. Makuchia introduced complex liver resection operations into daily practice at the Clinic for Surgery.

He is considered a pioneer of laparoscopic surgery in Serbia. After training at the Cleveland Clinic (USA) in one of the world’s largest centers for laparoscopic and colo-rectal surgery, with Prof. Dr. S. Wexner first introduced complex laparoscopic operations of the colon, then the stomach, liver, spleen, adrenal glands and pancreas into daily practice at his clinic. The introduction of this type of surgery made a significant contribution to the modernization of surgery in Serbia.

On his initiative, a new subspecialization was founded in 2018 at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade – Narrower specialization of laparoscopic surgery, of which he is still the head today. This is a significant step in the educational modernization of surgery in Serbia and satisfying the great interest of young surgeons from all over Serbia.
